Due to the political climate in Bahrain, Bell Pottinger’s work with the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Bahrain has been suspended. This occurred during the three-month period of emergency rule which was put in place in March.
The PR agency has been criticized by protesters for working in Bahrain, due to the political issues presently surrounding the small island country.
A spokesperson said the account suspension did not represent an end of business between the EDB of Bahrain and Bell Pottinger. In a PR Week news article, Lord Bell also added that the possibility of refreshing accounts would be discussed when the period of emergency rule had passed.
