Research in Motion (RiM), the company behind Blackberry smartphones has appointed Good Relations for their UK and EU consumer and B2B communications. The company appointed Good Relations which is part of the Bell Pottinger group following a final competitive pitch against Blue Rubicon.
Overall five different agencies pitched for the account, including Hotwire who were RiM’s previous PR provider. The account is thought to be worth in the region of £250,000 a year and will cover the whole of the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. Incumbent Hotwire held the account for seven years previous to the new appointment.
Recently released research undertaken by The Daily Telegraph newspaper shows that Blackberry holds a solid grip on the smart phone market, though not as strong as Android and iPhone.
