Hill & Knowlton was chosen by Cannes Lions Festival to support and promote the 2011 event.
Festival organizers are planning to ax the strapline: ‘international advertising festival’ in favor of the more broad-ranging strapline: ‘international festival of creativity.’ This change was due to feedback which festival attendees submitted to the festival organisers at last year’s event.
Hill and Knowlton have been regular attendees at the festival. In 2009 they hosted a PR seminar and a social media savvy ‘tweet up’ event which they set up in liaison with Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.
Tony Burgess-Webb, the agency’s chief marketing officer has said that creativity was actually fundamental to the Cannes Lion’s festival, calling it the: ‘epi-centre for creativity in communications.’ Over 8,000 delegates from 95 countries globally attended last year’s festival.
